Our EnviroWare® Materials

In 2007, Celebration launched EnviroWare® – a range of single use packaging made from natural, renewable & sustainable resources. Raw materials include Plant Starch PLA (polylactic acid), Bagasse from non wood fibres such as sugarcane, wood from sustainable sources and palm leaves.

Plant Starch PLA

Manufactured by NatureWorks LLC, Ingeo PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biopolymer derived entirely from plant resources. The polymer is made from simple plant starch from abundant feedstocks such as corn. The end result is a PLA product which performs comparatively to those made from traditional petrochemical based plastics.

Paper

Paper is a versatile material and especially appealing when it comes from sustainable FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council® C113967) certified sources. We now have a wide range of paper products in white or kraft coloured FSC® paper.

Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the world’s fastest growing woody plants, growing as quickly as 2 feet per day. It can be harvested much faster and more frequently compared to hardwood trees. Making bamboo fibre a highly sustainable substitute for wood-
based paper. Our Bamboo fibre products are certified by FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council C113967)

Bagasse

Bagasse is made from natural

Palm Leaves

Produced in India, Palm Leaf plates and platters are made from discarded leaves from the Adaka nut palm. The leaves are collected, cleaned and then mechanically pressed in a mould at 120°C; no additional
treatments are required. Each individual item has its own unique pattern and structure.

to comply.

PET Virgin Plastic

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a strong, lightweight, and shatter-resistant plastic commonly used for cold food packaging.

It’s easily recyclable and can be made from recycled content (see rPET), making it a sustainable choice.

rPET Recycled Plastic

Alongside our virgin PET packaging, we’re focused on developing more packaging made from recycled PET with a minimum 30% post-consumer recycled resin.

Such ranges are exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax UK. Clear rPET packaging is widely recyclable in the UK

PP Polypropylene

The second most widely used plastic, known for its versatility and wide temperature tolerance – ideal for both microwaving and freezing.

PP is easily recyclable and often reusable, as seen in our Versa2Go® food containers and hinged-lid portion containers, which can be used time and again.

PE & PP Coated Paper

Paper packaging is often coated with a thin plastic film, providing a moisture and grease-resistant barrier. Packaging made from this material is suitable for hot or cold foods. PE lined paper is suitable for hot foods up to 80°C. PP lined paper withstands higher temperatures up to 120°C, making it ideal for microwave reheating.

MFPP Polypropylene

Our black base MealMaster microwavable containers (bases only) are made from a mix of polypropylene with added minerals. This results in 20 to 50% less plastic, which helps reduce landfill waste.

PS Polystyrene

Unfortunately, Polystyrene PS is not commonly recycled in the UK, although some councils accept it at household waste recycling centres.
